Speaker: Pietro Freni, Institute of Mathematics, Czech Academy of Sciences
Title: o-minimal expansions of ordered fields, convex valuations, and
(trans)series

Abstract

The first half of the talk will be a gentle introduction to
o-minimality, presenting some history, motivation, examples, and
covering some basic fundamental results (cell-decomposition, Miller's
growth dichotomy). A brief interlude on the theory of (T-)convex
valuations on o-minimal expansions of fields will follow. The last part
will be dedicated to discuss some connections with fields formal
generalized series and transseries, and on how these can be used to
explicitly construct and describe models of a given complete o-minimal
theory expanding the theory of real closed field.
