Abstract

How does the practice of mathematical research change when artificial intelligence becomes part of our everyday work? Drawing on examples from my own research in dynamical systems, I will discuss both the possibilities and pitfalls of working with AI, from exploring conjectures and developing proofs to detecting errors and rethinking familiar approaches.

Rather than focusing on spectacular claims about AI solving difficult problems, I will consider a more practical question: how might AI change the way we think, work, and learn to do mathematics, regardless of where we are in our mathematical careers?
